Las Conchas Fire

Urgent Wildlife Alert

The Tea Party for Animals is urging citizens to contact the New Mexico Game & Fish Department in Santa Fe, asking them why they refuse to help the starving, thirsty wildlife who are forgotten victims of the 156,000 acre fire in the Jemez Mountains, where Los Alamos Nuclear Lab is located. Rosemary Lowe, field coordinator for the group says “we presented the Game Dept. with a practical plan to set up feeding/watering stations in areas away from humans, but the Game Dept. refused. Why?”

Scott Smith, field biologist for the group reports: “Game & Fish is well-known for manipulating habitat to favor hunted animals, while ignoring the plight of the wildlife in these terrible fires.”

Demand that the Game & Fish Dept provide food and water to the wildlife victims of the NM fires. Voice your concerns to Game & Fish Director Tod Stevenson, P.O. Box 25112, Santa Fe, NM 87504, 505-476-8008 or e-mail tod.stevenson@state.nm.us
